During filter service quad ring seal must be removed from bowl, inspected, and have a light coating of clean grease or petroleum lubricant applied to ensure quad ring remains seated in bowl during re-installation. Below is a picture of a fuel bowl that had the filter replaced and the quad seal was not seated properly and damaged the fuel bowl. In this instance air was seeping into the system and eventually burned up the lift pump. Bowls also need to be inspected during maintenance for any distortion of fuel bowl seat causing gaps in seal.
