SUBJ:  8608 Field Update Kit – HD Screeds

Machine Model:  8608 units with HD Screeds

Serial Numbers: 8608 -462100 or below units with HD screeds

Action Requested: Proactive Inspection and Correction at Next Maintenance Interval

Issue Description:

Screed heat improvements include changing out the main elements and harnesses on the screed.

These improvements address and aim to prevent common failure modes that have been identified including short/breaks in the wires of the e-chain, physical cuts from tubed steel, and damage/melting at the electrical crimps where the S curve elements were laying directly against the screed plate.

Several mechanical improvements are also addressed, such as improvements to the tread plate, updates to the auger back, and screed rulers. In addition, we have incorporated and included components for prior service bulletins that address screed bearings  if necessary and the changeout of hard lines failure modes.

The goal of this campaign is to proactively improve machine life and reliability with identified improvements without inducing down time to the customer for known failure modes.

Action Detail: Please contact Mark Bolick, Lee Grant, Melynda Berrier to request an 8608 HD screed Field Update Kit. Dealer should provide product serial number along with a purchase order number including to ship to location and LeeBoy will enter the specific parts order.

NOTE: LeeBoy is committed to providing the update kit on demand, but due to supply constraints, all kits may not immediately ship. LeeBoy understands the time sensitive need for winter rebuild or timing with customer schedules, please include this information in your PO notes.

1: S- Curve Element replacement with new Left /Right elements and new harness.
2: New Battery disconnect switch with terminal end to hook up track unit wires the small wires as well new battery cables.

3: Reroute / modify standoffs for screed control boxes harness and routing with new harness .

4: Hood rubber rework, use existing rubber and add the adhesive.

5: Counter-sink rulers on extensions.

6:  Plate protection for hydraulic connections to screed.

7:  Left -hand conveyor paddle change.

8:  Check Auger bearing mount.

9: Bearing Inspection on screed, change if broken

NOTE: previous service bulletins should have already been addressed, however, inspection for compliance to bulletin should be conducted, and a separate parts order may be needed.
